We have a 20+ year old jenny named Cheerio and her 3 month old jenny foal Annie Buttercup, Annie B. for short.  We brought Cheerio into our lives as a companion for our 18 year old pony, Zeke.  We often wonder why we didn’t get a donkey sooner….they are wonderful, gentle, loving animals.

Birth of Elvis*

Daisy, a jack russell terrier was very interested in being friends with Elvis

Lani with Lily

* "Elvis was born on May 7/03.  It was the worst weather outside.  Very cold, very windy, and of course very snowy!  I was able to convince Mike, my husband, to build a temporary stall in the garage so that Elvis could be born in a more comfortable environment.  Mom and baby were very pleased to be inside a heated garage.  This picture is moments after his birth.  Lily did a great job."

Some of the milking jennets, many with striped legs, at the Asinerie du Pays des Collines, Chateau des Mottes. The donkeys are milked 3 times a day. Some of the milk is sold frozen. Donkey's milk is well known as an immune system booster. 'Ass'-well the farm produces soap and other skin care products that Kicking Donkey Products will be offering later this year. The gentle restorative properties for  sensitive skin have been known for thousands of years.

Now this is a GREAT idea and a wonderful way to spend time with your donkey: "The packs are full of roadside litter, sadly. Every year we have "Clean up Australia" day and 10's of thous of people get out and clean up after all the litterbugs. You think they'd get the message. Actually it's a fun day in a way, we have a sausage sizzle afterwards..."

Jane, James and Baz

Thanks to all the great photographers who have
contributed images to our web site

"Keep up the good work!  I've enjoyed ALL the pictures you've posted, including '03's and '02's.  2002 does have some shots of really great-looking mammoth donkeys being ridden!  Hooray for saddle donkeys, and all the donkeys that are played with, used and loved.  Great to have a website like yours to highlight them!"
W. Brockish
