Western Pack Burro Ass-ociation Colorado www.packburroracing.com "We have the triple crown races coming up this summer and it’s great fun for families to attend watching these non-wimpy dedicated tough pack racers run their ass’s up the pass to commemorate the miner and his trusty burro. We are the only state which has this sport in which we are trying to get it passed as Colorado’s State Sport! Pack burro racing has been going on here for 61 years now, and Colorado is celebrating 150 years since Gold was first discovered. " "What fun these donkeys have……running along side their best 2 legged friends…..no riding on the burros during the race and the burros wear their pack saddles with pick ax, shovel and of course the runner’s water! J What a most wonderful transformation we have witnessed as these donkeys are groomed to run…………and trained ever so gently and carefully to gain that bond and trust to go where the runner and trails lead. They show every sign of “loving a job” each morning the ones we have are waiting patiently at the gate to hit the trail or jump in the trailer. " Claudia Smith WPBA news-editor |
